Dr. Lea-Ann Kirkham leads the Bacterial Respiratory Infectious Disease Group at the Telethon Kids Institute in Perth, Western Australia. The team's mission is to develop improved therapies to prevent and treat childhood ear and lung infections. Lea-Ann will present on development of Spritz-OM, a nasal biotherapeutic product designed to prevent childhood ear infections; and Blitz-OM, an aural anti-biofilm therapy designed to prevent repeat ear infections and reduce the need for repeat grommet surgery. An update on an otitis media aetiology surveillance study will also be presented, which is informing development of the best approaches to protect children from otitis media and associated hearing loss.
